Manc Four-Piece Apostles Return With Soaring New Single ‘Sixteen’

Apostles – ‘Sixteen’

Relishing in a rich vein of North West indie heritage, indie rock five-piece Apostles formed in Wigan in 2019. Though a strong start for the quintet set the wheels in motion, like most bands, the pandemic and its subsequent effect on Manchester’s and indeed the UK’s live scene took its toll.

Thankfully, Apostles are back with ‘Sixteen’ their brand new single and first since 2020. Much like the band’s previous singles ‘Waste A Moment’ and ‘Goldrush’ it bristles with button-bright, indie-pop melody, yet still succeeds in harbouring an air of swagger, rattling the track towards its three minute conclusion.

Described by the band as being a track about “reminiscing over good times with someone when you’re going through a tough patch with that very same person”, it’s sentiment familiar to many of us, and just another reason why Apostles’ own brand of indie is as resonant as it is.

Apostles are:

  • George Lyons – vocals

  • James Brown – drums

  • Ian Morris – bass

  • Rob Davies – rhythm guitar

  • Joe Smith – lead guitar
