Complexus is an emotional timeline of Breyfogle’s relationship with his ex, exploring the journey to find closure through both tragedy and comfort. “Angela” is stylistically inspired by tunes like Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and preludes to the tone and meaning of the album. “Angela” is the name of the person who gave reason to Complexus in the first place. Already making waves from their hometown, Homestead Florida and up the coast, Cannibal Kids breathe youthful energy back into the indie scene with their newest release. Writing songs about love and their reality, and inspired by the fast-paced, ocean-side heat of South Florida, the band have been making music for half their lives together. The song imagines memories of a past relationship, going as far as to “keep your eyes closed” when speaking to or seeing an ex, so as not to open wounds from the past. WATCH “NO STRANGER TO LOVE” Beijing-raised, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and composer Fay Kueen (Chinese name: Wang Feinan / 王斐南) has spent the past ten years caught between continents, cultures, and careers, and has just released her debut album A Place Called Home is Not a Place. Fay also announced her video “Atmospheric Zebra,” which ” makes a clear delineation between Kueen’savant-garde sound and her struggle for naturalization: disorienting turns, barriers, moments of confusion and panic followed by long stretches of uneasy silence.” (Audiofemme) She composed, arranged, performed, and produced all the songs on the album, working with Guangzhou-based producer Mark Lee to mix and master the album. A Place Called Home Is Not A Place observes human life from the out-of-body perspective of someone without a place, inspired by psychology, dream analysis, astrology, and surrealism.
