“Jack White and The Black Keys feel very much a part of the DNA of JJ Wilde, with a bit of the mystery of the punk of the Kills thrown in as well. Buzzy guitar riffs, razor sharp guitar solos and a voice to command the stage. An undeniable rock star in the making.” Jack Saunders- BBC Radio 1
Today, JJ Wilde released an Amazon Original cover of Stevie Nicks’ “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” featuring Brett Emmons from The Glorious Sons, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
“For me this song is a classic. I wanted to choose an older song, but one that hadn’t been done before,” explains JJ Wilde. “Stevie Nicks is a legend, as well as Tom Petty. The fun challenge here was changing it and modernizing it to suit my sound more, but without altering it too much and compromising what I loved about the song originally. The lyrics have passion and storytelling elements that I love. Working with Brett is like working with family. My first three tours were with The Glorious Sons, so having him on the song is almost like everything coming back full circle to where it started!”
“I’ve watched JJ become an absolute superstar in the last two years, and it fills me with joy to see her rise. It’s nice to take a step back and stand next to someone else’s light for once. I’m no Petty, but she seemed to be happy with my performance, so what the hell. Enjoy!,” says Brett Emmons from The Glorious Sons of the collaboration.
Over the summer, Wilde released the critically-acclaimed album Ruthless which Exclaim called, “…a tour de force demonstration of the raw power of the human voice in song.” The “passion-fueled and unapologetic” (Atwood) Canadian rocker recently made history when she became the only female artist ever to concurrently top all three Canadian rock charts formats with her debut single, “The Rush.” Wilde was also the inaugural cover artist of Amazon Music’s “Breakthrough Canada” playlist, featuring up-and-coming Canadians poised to make a mark in the near future. She most recently dropped the song “Best Boy”, which Guitar World said “captures the best of the Black Keys/Jack White zeitgeist, with raw, fiery tones bolstered by big hooks and chunky rhythms, and a positive message of empowerment.”
Amazon Music listeners can find the track on the “Rock Scene” playlist, featuring the most exciting new rock music from around the world.
