It’s Coming Home – ‘Three Lions’ Sweep The Nation & Cool Britannia Festival

Tonight sees the England team in it’s first semi-final in 28 years and ‘Three Lions’ is sweeping the nation – again. The 1996 hit by The Lightning Seeds &  Baddiel & Skinner is being played across the radio and roared on the streets, pubs, homes and the line “it’s coming home” is being used conversationally everywhere. The song has become the hymn for this summer’s Wold Cup and brings back memories of a summer that saw Oasis playing at Knebworth. This summer The Lightning Seeds will perform at the Cool Britannia Festival at no other location than Knebworth on Saturday 1stSeptember.

‘Three Lions’ is a close contender for this week’s number 1 in the Official Charts and even the current number 1, Geroge Ezra, wants the song to take his place at the top of the charts from him –
This would be the third time the song would hit the number 1 spot – previously in 1996 and 1998. If you can’t get enough of the song, you can watch the video here –

Also playing Cool Britannia are headliners Happy Mondays and Ocean Colour Scene as well aas Feeder, Razorlight, Embrace, Peter Hook & The Light, Cast, Heather Small, Dodgy, Space, Toploader and The South. The festival will see the premiere of Britpop Classical feat. Phil Daniels, The Farm’s Peter Hooton, Saffron from Republica and Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory.

The legendary Ministry of Sound will be housed in the Big Top featuring some of the best club DJs of the era incl. Todd Terry, Brandon Block, Jazzie Band Alfredo. For fans of the bizzare, ‘Dr Haze’s Freak Show – Featuring Acts From The Infamous Circus of Horrors’ will also be hosted at the festival alongside many more attractions.
