Issues // Beautiful Oblivion // Album Review

Issues are back with a brand new album Beautiful Oblivion. As the follow up to the 2016 Headspace the band have wasted no time in getting two singles out as well as heading out on tour in support.

Beautiful Oblivion i s an album which cannot be pinpointed into one genre as each track takes you on a different journey. “Drink About It” which has already been released as a single provides quite a good example of what I mean in one track. There is quite a hard hitting riff throughout however once you place the melody of the chorus and Tyler Carter’s voice on top it becomes almost pop like in sound. This is what comes across throughout the album with tracks like “Find Forever” having a blend of what can only be described as 2000’s R&B vocals with a rocking guitar too. As you progress through the album, you’re left wondering what surprise is going to hit you next will it be that pop/rock or something much harder hitting like “Tapping Out” which throws some screaming metal vocals into the mix too! Although the mix offered can go from one extreme to the other, each style is at the same level of quality and that really is the most impressive.

While there is no specific genre to put Issues into, they provide something for everyone, as the album pulls you in. It leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting for what the band had managed to blend together next. On the whole, it is a well produced album that should be commended for the talent and musicality which has been allowed to shine through. Beautiful Oblivion is due out on 4th October 2019.
