InVisions // Deadlock // Album Review

Formed back in 2016, InVisions have been one of the UK’s most promising up-and-coming metalcore acts. With their past two releases (Never Nothing and Between You and Me) the band has built up a considerable fanbase alongside landing a slot at Download. Now with the release of their third album Deadlock, I’m excited to see just how far they’ve grown musically.

First up is The 6 6 9, and the instantly aggressive onslaught of riffs and breakdowns mixed with a phenomenal vocal track that has an unreal level of energy. Following is Half-Life, a groove infested Nu-Metal inspired throwback that had me grooving without even realising it.

As the album moves on, we have Annihilist, a neck-snapping anthem with some fantastic chord progressions and guitar work, alongside one of the catchiest choruses I’ve heard so far this year. Up next we have D V P E, a violent, angry take on addiction that I can already visualise the pits to that also has my favourite vocals of the entire release. Jumping forward (got to leave some surprises), we have D E A L E R, the partner song to D V P E, a modern metalcore banger once again tackling addiction while bringing in elements of Architects musically that just blow me away in how well they fit sonically while still feeling completely fresh. The final track I want to talk about is Fall With Me, upon the opening seconds, the Djent Styled riffs and Guttural/Scream layered vocals blew me away and the drumming here is just too tight to put into words. Easily my favourite track without a shadow of a doubt.

InVisions have genuinely hit it out of the park here. From the ridiculously catchy chorus to immense breakdowns and utter talent within every single performance, all I can genuinely say is buy this album, a definite contender for album of the year.
