Today, following the recent release of his critically acclaimed album Hudson Delta, rock n’ roll maverick Jeff Tuohy is back with a rockabilly holiday hit and animated video “Santa’s Bringing Coal”. The new single is a tongue-in-cheek bluesy bop reminiscent of Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart”. Debuting at #29 on the holiday charts, Tuohy showcases his prodigious songwriting talent and inimitable sense of humor in this earworm of a track. The song is accompanied by a classically-animated music video, evoking a cross between an early South Park episode and “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. The video is directed by prolific Brazilian creator Marcus77, who also directed Tuohy’s breakthrough video “The Devil’s in New Orleans”. You can view the video here now.
“Santa’s Bringing Coal” is the first track to follow Jeff Tuohy’s 2021 album Hudson Delta. The album (co-produced by Latin Grammy-winner Brian Forbes) injects New York City grit into the New Orleans/Texas sound, taking the listener through a genre-bending, audible road trip. It peaked at Number 6 on the Apple Music Country Album Chart and continues to make waves as a flagship example of modern alternative rock meets country.
Jeff Tuohy is a Billboard-winning Americana artist based out of New York City. Jeff Tuohy’s story is one of redemption— his debut album “Cocoon” was a critical success, with his lead single “Bourbon Street” garnering millions of streams and being featured on over 100 radio stations across the country. Unfortunately his record deal crumbled during the recession in 2009, but that has not stopped him from forging his own path in music with a bold and unique sound. Compared to the likes of Tom Waits and Postmodern Jukebox, Jeff Tuohy has been called “one of the best up-and-coming songwriters in North America” (Writers Bone). While his career and life have seen peaks and valleys, Jeff Tuohy continues his climb to new heights as he builds a loyal cult following along the way. His 2021 album Hudson Delta debuted at #6 on the Apple Music Country Album Chart, and his latest single “Santa’s Bringing Coal” debuted at #29 on the holiday charts.
