Enso Anima is a Sacramento post-rock band both dynamic and focused, constantly driven to seek new avenues of expression, yet retaining solid roots in passionate and creative experimental hardcore. The resulting sound is as cohesive as it is diverse, aimed to provide a means for people of different backgrounds to come together and enrich each other’s lives through collective energy. They have one statement they focus on throughout each release: “you are not alone”. “Harlequin Ichthyosis and the Man Who Thought He Was A Tree” is the first single from their upcoming EP, demonstrating the band’s ability to explore different genre elements while staying true to their unique sound as a whole. The lyrics display the band’s enlightening and uplifting point of view about the circular nature of the universe, bringing all experiences together as a whole.
Whitney Schuster on the song: “When one gets stuck in a twisted view of themselves, that habit can stick around for years and seep deeper into their self-esteem, making them appear as a monster to themselves, even if the trait that started that process was just a normal human character flaw. This song describes how much damage that process can do, and in an abstract way, proposes a way to escape that cycle by looking outwards. Reminding yourself that you’re a very part of a boundless universe with infinite possibility, can put the self back in perspective and help to dissolve the illusion of the gargantuan, incurable monster.”

Music, derived from early human experiences and representing both the beginning and end of life, brings foundations of meaning to our universe. An earthquake breaks the Earth’s surface with the same energy which creates new life; the Universe operates with flaws and beauty in perfect harmony. Enso Anima harnesses this worldly cycle and translates it into sweeping progressive post-hardcore with experimental elements, expanding over wide dynamic and stylistic ranges from gentle to aggressive.
Enso Anima is Dan Hopkins (lead vocals), Tory Gaurnier (bass guitar), Shane Ward (lead guitar) Nick Creary-Scher (drums), and Whitney Schuster (rhythm guitar).
