Swedish Classic Rock pioneers Horisont are back with their sixth studio album, Sudden Death. Over a decade worth of grafting as a band, these Swedish maestros have built up a sizeable fan base with their eclectic mix of musical styles and influences that make their sound their own. Right from the off you know you’re not in Kansas anymore, a retro-sounding track in ‘Revolution’ greets you with its thumping piano and vocal harmonies. ‘Free Riding’ once again with a strong piano intro and thrashing guitars in harmony once again bring you to the realization that Horisont is not your run of the mill band. But something quite unique. Killer vocal melodies and gargantuan hooks just grip you from the off. A good time band, you know that Horisont is here to party and party they will, Hammond organs, cinematic quality songwriting that feels like it is right out of a 70’s movie just envelope you in its fuzzy goodness.

I am pretty sure we’re all looking for something fresh sounding and a diversion from the usual cookie-cutter bullshit that we are flooded every day on our airwaves and Horisont is just that. They know what they like and they like what they do, and so will you. Crank up the volume and just give in to the chaos that is Sudden Death, dig out those flares, the crushed velvet suit and big daddy hats, and rock on! These guys aren’t pretending to be something they’re not,  they clearly have embraced the chaos and have made it their own. The sound is huge across every track, packing it with high energy and high octane songwriting, melodic and punchy from every angle, there is no escaping the world in which Horisont have created for you. A fantastical world where Rock is king and Horisont’s word is God! You can’t help but find yourself wrapped up in their highly addictive songwriting and melodic hooks, each and every track on the album delivers.

Pure unadulterated joy from start to finish!

Sudden Death is out Friday, May 15th via Century Media Records.

HORISONT’s “Sudden Death” supercharges their mountainous ascent in an immediate explosion of rich and intricately created songs, but in it’s conception was an artfully crafted 3-year labour of love. The pay-off for HORISONT’sdedicated handiwork is a confidently sumptuous album of monumental, anthemic stadium-sized rock choruses, twin-guitar harmonies, and symphonic piano-laden rock that is as rare as it is catchy and captivating. Having earned their special place in the hearts of the heavy underground, with a dedicated international audience in thrall to the stunning energy of their live shows, HORISONT are a fearlessly inventive tour-de-force of heavy rock.

Vocalist Axel declares that “Our mission was to make the record that WE wanted to do, and not what people expect us to do,” and it is with this irreverent and devil-may-care attitude that HORISONT let’s their music run wild with abandon, undeniably electrifying and moving the listener the way real rock and roll should, a middle finger to current trends.
