Welsh duo/brothers Henry’s Funeral Shoe dropped their latest full-length album Smartphone Rabbit Hole this weekend and is one well worth checking out, fuzz induced Rock they have an organic feel that is deeply rooted in their music. Groove-laden, audacious in nature and a big bruising sound makes for a highly engaging recording that points to where the lads feel their place is in the Blues, Rock scene in the UK today.

The album immediately grabs you from the off with seriously addictive riffs and catchy melodies, you can feel the energy bouncing off the brothers in the creation of these tracks, from rehearsal space to studio none of that raw, ethereal energy is lost in translation as they take you on a sonic journey across ten bruising tracks. Each track is bigger than the last, each with its own flavor the guys showcase their wide variety of songwriting to keep the listener highly engaged and wondering what’s coming next? The production is first class which wraps you in completely in underlying energy within each song and just makes you wanna bust a move to these bad boys, you get a sense of how these songs will translate live but I am pretty sure they’ll take on a whole life of their own in the raw.

These guys have been grafting since 2008 and their tenacity shows with a tight sounding recording, beautifully refined yet honest and organic at the same time. A fine album indeed for those who are looking for more than the usual cookie-cutter, pre-fab bands out there who lack identity. If you’re looking for the real deal Henry’s Funeral Shoe is it.
