As we all know, Wales is somewhat of a hotbed for great voices and great musicians, so it should be of no surprise to learn that female power Rock trio, Haxan, come from Cardiff. They been strutting their stuff at many festivals and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Phil Campbell and Status Quo with their brand of high-quality unforgiving Rock. Now, despite the difficulties of working during Lockdown, they’ve managed to release a stonking new album.

First track, `Damned If You Do’ is a no holds barred, face melter. Vocals courtesy of Sam Bolderson, blend attitude seamlessly with intense harmonies and shows these girls mean business. Bolderson is no slouch on guitar either and the riff-heavy `Killing Time’ proves this with its meaty fretboard hooks. Not to be left out from the party, Harriet Waddeson on Bass and Jess Hartley on drums, lay down a frantic backline for `Nine lives’ which both infectious and energetic.

The trio go all old school on `Gravedigger’ which is an epic opus in the vein of classic rock masters Black Sabbath. The power of this track is something to behold. `Louder Than Words’ keeps up a similar pace and attitude before a more laid back `Black Sheep’ mixes emotional vocals with a large helping of power chords and lush harmonies.

The heavily catchy and most commercial, `Crash And Burn’ shows the radio-friendly side of Haxan whilst `Skeletons’ pounds its way into your very soul. We end with the theatrical and metallic `Living Dead’.

This is a debut to be proud of on so many levels. Musically its fresh, intense, and intricate and has been created during one of the most challenging times that the music industry has seen. Having seen the trio live, it was obvious that any album recorded by them would be massive as no matter what they do, they always give 110%. That can only mean one thing – their second album is going to be immense!
