Goo Goo Dolls // Grounded With The Goo Goo Dolls // Live Stream Review

Welcome to the new norm, 2020 has been an absolute cluster fuck for the music industry and the artists within. So here we are living life virtually, socially distanced, and wrapped up in a blanket on the sofa tonight in the company of none other than the Goo Goo dolls, Buffalo, NY rockers who have an indelible footprint in modern-day Rock and a plethora of hits since their inception way back in 1986 are bringing their magic to the small screen for tonights Livestream Grounded With The Goo Goo Dolls. Hosted by Fan tracks and Mike Pinfield you get three hours of Goo Goo Dolls goodness to bring everything from unique merchandise to a beautiful young lady making up drinks inspired by Goo Goo Dolls song titles.

So this may not be your usual night out concert experience but it is a value for money experience if you are a fan of the band, you get taken through the history of the bands hits, time with the guys before the show talking about life in 2020 and their experience in the band as well as the live show and a Q&A after with fans, so it’s quite the immersive experience. But what of the live show itself? Glorious stereo to enjoy a hefty back catalog of tracks from the guys, no sweaty 6ft 6 inch dude in front of you blocking your view! Instead, you have beautifully mixed and balanced live music through your speakers coming at you in pristine quality.

I must admit the idea of the live stream experience before this was a tad off-putting, but if they are executed as well as this I don’t think I’ll leave my house again! The Goo Goo Dolls have this gargantuan catalog of real quality. Songs that even of they are on your first ever listen, just drip in sublime quality, melodic big-hitters that resonate from the off. You can totally understand why they have had been at the top of the game for so long, a lifetime of experience and miles on the road all wrapped up in a tight performance.

Some may have bought tickets just to hear the big hits by the band, but with a legion of devoted fans, family, as Johnny Rzeznik calls them tonight’s performance covers all the bases from fan-favorite album tracks to the now infamous ‘Iris’ that brought global attention to the band way back in 1998. The guys Rock out and take the audience on a musical rollercoaster throughout, twisting and turning throughout the night lifting the energy levels through the roof before taking them back down for an acoustic track and just enough time to catch your breath once again. An evening packed with banging tracks that long time fans and newbies will enjoy alike, an interesting experience for both band and fans alike too as we all try and adjust to the “New Norm” but at least we still can embrace these experiences, envelope ourselves with our favorite artists and stay connected in these strange times.

Keep your eyes peeled for more as the guys announced tonight on Dec 12th another event, an augmented reality movie musical featuring all their music from their upcoming Christmas album It’s Christmas All Over.

Well worth spending your hard-earned money, if you haven’t as yet dipped your toes into the live stream experience, I can highly recommend it. Grounded With The Goo Goo Doll’s is a perfect example of how to pull this off and make the experience worthwhile for the fans at home.
