Legendary Jazz guitarist George Benson returns with his latest offering Walking To New Orleans April 26th via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. Benson this time turns his attention to the music of two of his greatest inspirations Chuck Berry and Fats Domino whom Benson revelled in growing up. Unbelievably this is Bensons 45th album, so he’s an old hand at this recording lark and assembled some of Nashville’s finest to surround him along with Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa & Black Country Communion) at the helm to lay down these majestic tracks.

Benson covers some of the finest tracks recorded by the majestic duo that was Chuck Berry and Fats Domino, and for all the old school kids out there who were reared on the finest Blues and Soul these two laid a foundation that many of the modern day greats owe their livelihood too. Many of the millennial guitar players who strut their stuff were raised on six string slayers who grew up on Chuck Berry and Fats Domino and so on and so on. They left and indelible impression on modern day Blues and Soul and Bensons interpretation is as majestic as the original, delivered in 21st century recording technology so you can appreciate every nuance and subtly across the 10 recordings.

Bensons playing is sublime, as you would expect, as noted earlier with a collection of equally sublime musicians to translate the music of the two masters into modern day

Classics drummer and music director Greg Morrow, guitarist Rob McNelley, pianist Kevin McKendree, and bassist Alison Prestwood you get a full bodied and rich 21st century take that is simply breathtaking.
