Eskimo Callboy is back with another album to get us questioning where they fit in the genres of music. Rehab is the latest creation to push the boundaries and showcase a new style. Named for the band’s own journey of discovery while writing the album, it’s certainly a fresh sound that takes an open mind to truly appreciate and take in.

The first full track off the album “Nice Boi” starts us off on an aggressive footing before taking a sudden turn with such a gentle bridge. Taking yet another turn the chorus itself is actually quite melodic with a sound quite similar to Hollywood Undead. Although the comparison is there it is undeniably its own sound and style though. “Okay” takes us on a different style and has what seems quite a Pop-based opening but once again this will take another turn as the track becomes its own. There is certainly a more Pop-Punk feel to this track which is now something which would be compared to the more recent album from You Me And Six as Eskimo Callboy push those same boundaries in their own style. “Supernova” and “Prism” follow the same sort of style to keep a theme within the album but that’s not to say they don’t hit those more aggressive sounds once more with “Made By America”. As you listen through the album, it becomes a guessing game of which side of the band you’ll see next as they keep you on your toes.

As I said, it does take an open mind to take on Rehab with its twists and turns and it’s very individual style. The band has clearly set out to push not only their creative boundaries but also those musical genres. Each track has its own style and is completely captivating as it takes its own journey showcasing who Eskimo Callboy is as a band.
