Engutturalment Cephaloslamectomy // Glam Not Slam // Album Review

Blending the brutal world of Slam and humour, Engutturalment Cephaloslamectomy has returned some 6 years after their EP 8.1.2 to continue their quest of creating questionable music and having fun whilst they do it.

It won’t take much more than looking at the tracklist to see the level of humour that the trio from Indiana likes to target with their audible delights and as ‘Worthless Intro You Will Skip’ takes the spot of the opening track and ‘Knights In Slammin’ Service’ begins we are met by the wonders of Slam music and a vocal style that Slam fans will be used to. If you’re not used to it, don’t expect to understand lyrical content, unless you watch a lyrical video or unfold the inlay of the cassette.

The Slams hit regularly and hit hard, whilst also retaining a more light-hearted angle of the genre, which can take itself very seriously and it is nice to experience these bands that create the music and the fun that they have is transmitted over the speakers, whilst the lyrics will be generally some of the sickest that people will experience.

The drumming is superb, the bass provides the perfect tone for the guitars to riff over the top of and the vocal is one that you can happily try and gruffly guess the words as you go along.

Engutturalment Cephaloslamectomy are a band that you would probably see a meme about, depicting what others expect their fans to look like and the fans actually look like as many of the Slam fans have some of the best senses of humour and love nothing more than stomping around the floor with a blow-up hammer in their hand whilst having a massive smile on their face and Glam Not Slam is the perfect soundtrack to be able to do that.

It is not an album that all sounds the same, each song has its own sound and is as much fan as the previous one, so my advice is I you haven’t experienced Slam before, give this a go and if you are a Slam fan, Engutturalment Cephaloslamectomy has the next album for you to add to your collection.

Get ready to get your Bree on!!
