The sixth album for Swedish Death Metallers marks two significant moments of the band, as an original drummer, Ronnie Bergerstål returns to the band for the First time since 2011 and it also marks the debut for vocalist Christofer Sätderdal, however, the follow up go the 2018 release Chaos Manifesto is not believed to have changed direction with these lineup alterations.

As soon as the drums sound, a powerful, barking scream welcomes us to the album before the guitars begin to wail and the fun starts. The fast tempo mirrors that of Thrash, as the riffs provide some melody to the chaos, and the abrasive vocal scratches the instrumental. This is Swedish Death Metal at its finest and it’s only the opening track!

As the album progresses through the 8 tracks and 36 minutes, the heft riffs continue to flow with massive force and the drums keep on battering the defenses even when the pace slows slightly and then groove appears, the brutal and dark side of the band never disappears and in some ways that it is in these moments where the true qualities are allowed to escape as you find yourself enveloped in the sonic darkness.

The overall sound of the record is that of one of 90s Death Metal and takes you back to that wonderful era where things were heavy and more straight forward with it, being crushing naturally without the assistance of modern samples or effects and keys be honest the Old School Swedish Death Metal sound was one of the best going and Demonical have managed to capture the disturbing magic of those days gone by on World Domination.

This record is one for the fans of the classic sound Death Metal album, as the hooks tear, riffs slash and drums beat you and that is before the solos take a devastating swipe and the vocal grates your skin from the bone. It is albums like this that paved the way for modern Death Metal and this is a true current throwback that will either have you reminiscing like me or have you digging into the back catalogs of Death Metal bands. Whichever you are Demonical has produced an album that will unite both parties in appreciation for such a top draw record.
