Dead Romantic – Share Influences & Inspiration Exclusive With Rock ‘N’ Load
Ascending pop rockers DEAD ROMANTIC are making waves with their new single, All Talk, which features Eddy Thrower (Lower Than Atlantis). The band have dropped a new lyric video for the track, here – https://youtu.be/ujXAUtk2WVw. With all of this in mind, we asked the UK tunesmiths to give us a breakdown of their most influential top tracks:
What a powerful song. Lyrically and melodically, this is right up there with some of the best modern rock music. I love how the song builds. From ambience to a quiet verse then roars into this huge melodic chorus and takes us on a journey dynamically. So good!
I love this band, the Dr. Feelgood album was absolutely FULL to the brim of energy! ‘Kickstart My Heart’ roars like a crazed lion with Mick Mars’ insanely heavy riffs, Tommy Lee’s drums sound monstrous! Bob Rock produced one of the best rock albums of the 1980’s right here, this one is a banger!
How could we not put MJ on the list?! Plus, it’s MJ and Eddie Van Halen – speaks for itself, hey? This track is one of the ultimate Pop songs crossing perfectly into Rock. When I first heard this one back when I was a kid, it blew my mind. Two incredibly talented musicians and one ultimately, timeless song!
These guys write some powerful, emotive lyrics. We love ‘The Jester’ for its honestly. The song is stripped bare at the beginning, with clean melodic guitars and soft vocals, as the song draws to the chorus it kicks us – with a distorted wake up call and some kind of realisation.
A true artist! This is one of my favourite Prince tracks. I can remember the first time I heard it and I just love how it moves. The lyrics are awesome, big social, cultural and political questions are being thrown out here. Prince knew how to make a long lasting impression.
‘Welcome To The Real World’ is right up there with the best. The production of this album is phenomenal. In Broken Wings, the introduction entrances as synths create a wash of ambience and pure atmosphere, with their hypnotic rhythmic patterns. Richard Page has an incredible, soft, warm voice with a real edge and grit. A beautiful melodic Pop/Rock song.”
