Dead Ficiton’s latest singles – Modern Primitives, A Plot or Spine and The Crux – ‘mark the end of the current sound and line-up’ according to frontman Craig Macleod. So far, Macleod has actually wrote, engineered, played and produced everything on the records himself, and has decided – due to various reasons – that he will continue to make music and records under the artist name Dead Fiction but as a solo project. He stated, ‘I’ll keep some key elements of the developed aesthetic but will also branch out and incorporate new sounds, instruments and styles, as well as, invite different musicians and artists to feature on certain tracks’. Therefore, the release of these three singles signifies the end of the epic alternative rock sound that Dead Fiction has been known to create. As expected, these songs exemplify that anthemically charged, electrifyingly aggressive sound, possess powerful melodic ideas and engaging lyrics, and channel influences like Biffy ClyroFrightened Rabbit, and The Manchester Orchestra.
