“Daisy Harris’ inaugural album, Tornado Dreams, beautifully encapsulates the post-breakup grieving process and makes sure to leave no stone unturned.” –For The Punks
Creating her own unique flavour of genre-fluid music Daisy Harris takes inspiration from the likes of The Sundays and The Lemonheads to cement her brand of indie-pop guitar music. Her impressive musicianship shines through with her multi-instrumental ability and wonderfully translates into transcendental and heartfelt music.
Harris (vocals/ guitar/ banjo/ ukulele) has already worked the showcase circuit across Glasgow, as well as recently diving into the world of Manchester open mic performances.
Following on from her previous releases, the heart-wrenching ‘Come Homeand intimate‘Get Free’, ‘Shona’ paints an homage to platonic love as Harris’ reflects on the value of friendship. Despite sitting in pole position, ‘Shona’ was the last track to be recorded for her upcoming debut LP ‘Tornado Dreams’ and was the quickest with the producing process.
“Platonic love songs are my favourites to write, and this song in particular is so special to me. Shona’s been one of my best friends for years, and so it only felt right to begin the album with a tribute to her and all the love and joy she’s given me.”
– Daisy Harris on ‘Shona’
Starting off wistful and dreamy with blissful harmonies and subtle percussion, jovial acoustic guitar strums introduce us to the optimistic nature of Harris’ latest release. Repeating “be without you” throughout the delicate track, Harris writes a love song to Shona, and her inability to imagine life without her. Written, recorded, and produced at home in her living room before being mastered by David Griffiths, Harris’ latest number ups the ante for her debut record.
Set for release early next month, ‘Tornado Dreams’ is an homage to the trials and tribulations of teenage years, of love and loss, and navigating friendships during a national lockdown. Not one to be missed, Harris’ musical maturity shines through here ability to wear her heart on her sleeve and lay bare her inhibitions.
