July 2, 2020 (Nashville, TN) Cory Michael releases a new single that celebrates all that we love about summer. “Waist High Water” is a fun and relatable song that features familiar country grooves and relaxed vocals. This single highlights the importance of a good time. Many people feel stressed about their mundane day jobs. In order to stay focused and produce desired work we have to learn to take time for ourselves. Whether it’s “watching a “bobber” or having a “Corona in my hand”, this single accentuates how big the little things are. So if you’ve been feeling frazzled by your everyday life, find some friends and go relax in some “Waist High Water”. Listen Here https://soulspazm.ffm.to/waisthighwater
Michael opens the song by singing about the drab energy many people feel as they clock in to their 9 to 5. Quickly he changes pace to point out the need for a weekday getaway and he really brings the party vibe in the chorus,
“Waist high water, A Corona and a bobber,
Some Colorado breathin’ Hands up to the ceilin’ in
Waist high water, Somewhere a little hotter
Tip it back and kick your feet up,
‘Cause this is how we turn up in Waist high water”
Bigg Vinny is also a feature on this single and brings an added vocal element that compliments “Waist High Water” in all the right ways. I mean come on he is “Bigg Vinny” he brings 200% of his personality to the song. Vinny and Cory compliment each other perfectly.
Cory Michael tells how the song came to be, “Waist High Water came after another write that morning. I was writing with Chad Sellers. We wrote that morning and didn’t really get anything solid. By no fault of Chad, of course, Chad is an excellent writer. I was kind of in a funk I guess. I got home and was a bit frustrated by the lack of work success that day, so I pulled out the guitar and just started jamming. The rhythm felt groovy and made me want to get away. I finished the first draft in about an hour. It felt good but was missing something. We got ready to record the song and to finish it, I wrote the bridge. After writing the bridge, Bigg Vinny is the only guy we could see doing it. We called him up and he was gracious enough to jump on it. We had a blast cutting it with David Mescon and Joel Jorgenson, and we are looking forward to shooting the video.”

Biography: Cory Michael is a country musician from West Texas, who has made his home in Nashville. While music was an early love, the country part came later. His music career was inspired early when he’d listen to his parents’ music; Elvis’ “Heartbreak Hotel”, Billy Holiday’s “Blue Moon”, and Gene Chandler’s “Duke of Earl” played on repeat. In high school Cory was the drummer for a Christian praise and worship band he started with some friends. After high school a few of those band members stuck together and started a Christian rock band, Soulstrum.
Cory and Soulstrum parted ways, launching Cory’s transition from drums to guitar and launching his solo career. He began writing songs and found his passion for making his own music. Despite his Texas roots, Cory didn’t find country music until later on and he fell in love with music all over again. He related to country music. It was real life, and that was inspiring.
In 2014, Cory launched his solo career with his original song “Your Man” which made the Texas Top 100 charts, peaking at #63 (Texas Regional Radio Report, TRRR). He hit the road to promote the song and his hard work paid off and Cory went on to open for performers such as Mark Chesnutt, Gary Alan, Tyler Farr, Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Cody Johnson, Chris Jansen, Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Cory Morrow and Easton Corbin.
In 2017, Cory moved his home to Nashville to be closer to the country music scene. He’s been working hard and pushing out original music with five singles in the last two years, three of which were released in 2019. And there’s more on the way. A little bit rock and a lot a bit country, Cory delights fans with a solid mix of upbeat tunes sure to make you want to roll your windows down and turn the speakers up.
