Fresh from their explosive performances at Reading & Leeds, alt-trio CALVA LOUISE have unveiled an other-worldy video for their latest album’s title track EUPHORIC. The hypnotic visual was created entirely by vocalist and guitarist Jess Allanic.

Speaking of the track, Jess explains “It delves into the way each individual perceives reality and the unknown. The lyrics encourage listeners to consider the value of changing or wanting to stay the same. Under a futuristic punk atmosphere, the essence of the album can be found in the heaviest riffs and sweet melodies of Euphoric”.

Calva Louise – EUPHORIC

Driven by Jess’s creative vision and ambitious songwriting, current album EUPHORIC is CALVA LOUISE’s most multifaceted work to date. Influenced by graphic novels and Sci-Fi movies, the record provides a mesmerising introduction to an alternate reality. “EUPHORIC tells a story about the duality of the human being and the different perceptions of reality. The lyrics detail episodes of a dreamer’s experiences as an inner conversation with his other self, his counterpart, to experience freedom and have an encounter with the unknown”, she explains.

CALVA LOUISE will also be launching both a graphic novel and animated film to accompany EUPHORIC. Created by Jess by using software such as Blender, the 45 minute animation will be released on 28th September. It will feature the band in a dream of the main protagonist. The graphic novel will also be the second in a series with artwork created by Jess, coming at a later date.

Our passion for audiovisual production is constantly intertwined with the concept of the album and that is why each new step to take becomes a new challenge. It is as if each completed experience gradually reveals the signs that guide us on our way. The perception we have of this adventure shows us horizons that seem to be beyond our rational understanding as artists, and in order to see clearly we try to express these experiences through visual effects, as a complement to the music and the lyrics of the songs”, says the band.

New album EUPHORIC is testament to CALVA LOUISE’s undeniable creativity. Catch the band on tour with Trash Boat in the UK this October.

With roots in Venezuela, France and New Zealand, Jess, Alizon and Ben crossed paths in London during 2016 and formed CALVA LOUISE. They plunged head first into the UK’s burgeoning live circuit, sharing stages with the likes of Highly Suspect, Albert Hammond Jr. and Razorlight.

Their eclectic sound is a molotov cocktail that really works, encompassing searing guitar hooks from Jess, futuristic fuzz bass from Alizon and explosive drums from Ben. To date, the trio have landed plaudits from BBC Radio 1, DIY, Clash and Radio X.
