Buena Vista Social Club’s star Eliades Ochoa – Live at London’s Barbican Centre Friday 11th November

Buena Vista Social Club original member Eliades Ochoa will play his only UK show of the year at London’s Barbican Centre on Friday 11th November. Tickets are available here.

Eliades Ochoa today has recently released a Special Edition reissue of his 2020 ‘Vamos A Bailar Un Son’ album, out now on CD, 2LP and digital.

Ochoa has made his name as one of the most revered Cuban musicians of the last 40 years. He has released over 15 albums, and was a key figure in the 1996 sessions in Havana that became  ‘Buena Vista Social Club’, stamping the album with his warm and distinctive voice and guitar-playing in songs like ‘El Cuarto de Tula’ and ‘El Carretero’. On stage in front of massive crowds, Eliades’ guitar and his cowboy hat help to recall the country roots of this music that conquered the world.

Originally self-released in 2020, ‘Vamos A Bailar Un Son’ features Eliades’ interpretations of songs by important Latin American composers like Ñico Saquito and Agustín Lara, as well as two compositions written by Eliades himself, one of which is the title track whose accompanying video has so far clocked over 2.6million views. The Special Edition features three brand-new bonus tracks.

Of the reissue, Eliades comments: “This album has made me feel more alive. I am thrilled that more and more young people are connecting with my music.”

Ochoa continues to explore new collaborations, last year teaming up with Spanish rapper C. Tangana on his track ‘Muriendo De Envidia’ which has had over 22M listens on Spotify to date.
