Brisbane’s Deathcore Outfit Babirusa Talk New Single ‘Catatonia’ With Rock ‘N’ Load
So for anyone unfamiliar with Babirusa, tell us a little bit about your backstory and how you ended up here.
After 5-6 years of things falling through and never getting stable footing, the pieces fell into place and we found our line-up. The addition of Rangi on drums as well as Kyle and Rheese on vocals gave us the full sound that we were looking for. Babirusa soon started delving into the writing process, which consisted of some new material and old demos that ended up turning into what is now our full-length debut album, ‘Humanoid’.
Tell us about what you are currently up to?
Currently leading up to the release of our debut album ‘Humanoid’, Babirusa has been in the process of organizing future shows/tours, organizing merch, growing our fanbase, and writing new material for our next release after ‘Humanoid’.
Babirusa are itching to play our album live once Covid restrictions are finally lifted for local and interstate shows, as we were planning on touring earlier this year. We are planning on filming much more video content for our material in the form of playthroughs and visualisers. In terms of new material, we have been focused on crafting and refining what we create for a sound that really encapsulates our vision as a band.
Give Us A Taster Of Your Influences & Inspiration
Throughout the band we have a multitude of influences and inspirations that it would be hard to sum up with a single song. Collectively, we love listening to Volumes, As Blood Runs Black and Dance Gavin Dance to name a few.
