Directed by Brinsley Schwarz and co-produced with videographer Paul “Rile” Avis, the video has a loose environmental theme which aptly correlates with the narrative of the song. The video was exclusively premiered by Vive Le Rock.
“Storm In The Hills” is Brinsley’s first single from a brand new solo album entitled ‘Tangled’, set to be released later this year. With Brinsley playing most of the instruments, the track is notably hallmarked with the characteristic guitar sound he brought to the ’70’s pub rock band of his namesake: Brinsley Schwarz; plus more recently as lead guitarist for Graham Parker & The Rumour.
Written by Brinsley five years ago, “Storm in the Hills” is a laid back rock’n’roll tune with understated guitar solos and New Orleans piano from pianist James Hallawell. The song takes a wry, Newman-esque look at modern times, politics and climate change.
“Storm In The Hills” was recorded at The Barn in West London, the studio of James Hallawell, with whom Brinsley also recorded his quietly self-released first solo album ‘Unexpected’.
Signing a two album deal with rising indie label Fretsore Records, in 2021 Brinsley will release his new solo album ‘Tangled‘, plus reissue his debut: ‘Unexpected‘ later in the year.
