Across the collection’s ten new songs, BLACKBERRY SMOKE continue to embody their native Georgia’s rich musical legacy as they have for the past two decades, honouring the people, places and sounds of their home state. With the addition of producer Dave Cobb, a fellow Georgian, the new album pays homage to the band’s deep respect for their roots.
This new album sees fresh members joining the band’s touring ranks, with Benji Shanks bringing additional guitars and Preston Holcomb joining on percussion. The new album also features special guest appearances from Jamey Johnson (Lonesome For A Livin’) and Warren Haynes (All Rise Again), as well as background vocals from The Black Bettys.
You Hear Georgia follows the release of 2018’s critically acclaimed Find A Light, which debuted at #12 on the Official UK Album Chart and arrived as the best-selling Country & Americana/Folk album in the USA, entering at #3 on the Billboard Top Country Album chart and #2 on the Billboard Americana/Folk chart.
Following the release of Find A Light, BLACKBERRY SMOKE embarked on three additional projects – a live album & concert film, Homecoming: Live In Atlanta, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Album Sales chart, a 6-song acoustic EP, The Southern Ground Sessions and Live From Capricorn Sound Studios, an EP of six cover songs with special ties to the historic Georgia studio. Throughout the Covid-19 lockdown, the band kept busy with four livestream ‘Pandemic Jam’ online events, enabling them to share their music with fans across the globe. Expect plans for BLACKBERRY SMOKE’s 2021 touring in due course.
In addition to their work as musicians, BLACKBERRY SMOKE remain committed to charitable work and have raised nearly $500,000 to benefit children’s cancer research.
