CAUSTIC MINDS

Berlin fuzzed-up alt-rockers CAUSTIC MINDS (
https://www.facebook.com/causticminds/) are currently making waves with
their mesmerising new EP, Black Oil For A Soul, which is out now via all
streaming sites. This mouth-watering EP takes from everyone from Black
Sabbath and The Kills, to The Dead Weather and Arctic Monkeys. With this in
mind, we exclusively asked the band to give us five tracks that have helped
to define their sound and they listed some bangers:

“BLACK SABBATH – WAR PIGS

We love how vocals and the chords in the verses match perfectly. We also
admire how this song wanders in the limits of Hard Rock without trespassing
the line of Metal music. That is for sure a position we feel we belong to in
the musical spectrum quite often.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE- THE EVIL HAS LANDED

This is a song we usually jam at rehearsals. We feel that this song emulates
a full bebop band without losing the heavy rock roots that QOTSA has. We
always try to sound as full and powerful as possible with just three
instruments and vocals, so this song is a big reference for that task.

THE ARCTIC MONKEYS – FROM THE RITZ TO THE RUBBLE

It is amazing how effective these lyrics by Alex Turner are, they are so
sharp and rough that sounds like a private message to the listener.
Moreover, what it makes great this song is how simple but strong the music
is behind the vocals. Anytime we are writing music and overcomplicating, we
go back to this song to get inspired by it.

THE DEAD WEATHER -I FEEL LOVE (EVERY MILLION MILES)

We are generally very influenced sonically by the Dead Weather since they
have the same configuration than us. We feel greatly inspired by how this
song is built around one simple riff. The surprising thing is that you never
miss any other part or instrumentation, they keep the interest to the same
level all the time, which is something we aim when making music.

LED ZEPPELIN – DAZED AND CONFUSED

It is impossible to avoid having a chill through your spine when the vocals
come in at this song. That moment and also when the main riff hits the song
are music explosions that any person with any drop of anxiety inside may
want to release somehow.
