Packed full of solid metal satisfaction to top up that tank.
There’s no messing with the first track of the album ‘Truth Behind the Lies,’ the band are straight in with a forceful pounding of the drums and frantically heavy guitar playing. Tremendously growly words are spun in. It’s an eager start, sure to squeeze the honesty out of you with its demands.
The second track ‘False Legacy’ has an instrumental lead-in. The playing is suitably aggressive with lively guitar melding a melodic top layer. The vocals are echoey and distant but fierce, the “Lo-st in He-ll” chorus is catchy and there’s a guitar solo that’s short enough not to divert from the general heaviness of the song. ‘Unlike you’ begins slowly but the music soon becomes a wave that you can feel, crashing over you. The song is full of feeling and melody but brimming with heaviness, whilst ‘Refuse to Sink’ feels like the energy that has been stored up, suddenly beginning to erupt. There are twists and turns in the tempo and playing styles but it all fuses well and the drumming is second to none at pulling it all together.
The expressive ‘Disease Without A Cure’ will reach right down inside of you and really hit on some nerves. The guitar works its way into the deepest pockets of your brain alongside those vocal harmonies. There is whispering but it is loud, not at all discreet and the music feels like a mental blitz.
If the other songs on the EP have torn you apart slightly, then the final track is here to expertly stitch you back together. ‘Unknown Sources’ features drums that patter a slightly more offbeat but decent rhythm in the background. The guitar and bass tunes provide a great accompaniment to the glossier vocals of this song which feel a little different – gentler even – to the five previous.
For music with rock-club floor-filler potential. This 6 track EP won’t let you down.
