‘Tie Me Up’
The First Single From Their Brand-New Album ‘Plastic Drama’
Spanish band Belako today announce the first single to be lifted from their new album ‘Plastic Drama’, set for release in May via BMG. ‘Tie Me Up’, a fuzz drenched slice of avant-rock showing the band at their DIY best and the release is accompanied by a video which can be watched here. In March, Belako will be part of the Sounds From Spain showcase for SXSW festival and will also perform at The Great Escape (Queens Hotel) festival in Brighton this May.
Named best new band by Rolling Stone Magazine in Spain, Belako comprises two powerhouse women in vocalist/keyboard player Cristina Lizarraga and bassist Lore Nekane Billelabeitia, alongside Lore’s brother Josu Ximun Billelabeitia, who plays guitar and drummer Lander Zalakain. Hailing from the small town of Mungia near San Sebastian, Belako have been playing non-stop in Spain these past few years, building a dedicated fanbase in their native county which has quickly been spilling out into other parts of Europe and beyond.
Having supported the likes of DMA’s on their 2019 UK Tour, QOTSA and Liam Gallagher at Finsbury Park, and played major international festivals such as Primavera, SXSW , Low, Rock En Seine, Benicassim and Reading & Leeds, Belako’s explosive live performances have excited crowds from small dive bars in their early days to huge international festivals more recently, and their anything-can-happen stage attitude showcases the power, electricity and punk ethos of this exciting young band.
‘Plastic Drama’ is the bands fourth record, but the first since signing a major international record deal, and certainly their most ambitious to date. Self-produced by the band, ‘Plastic Drama‘ searches for “the real meaning of things in a world that translates everything into assembly lines, manufacturing and the exploitation of living beings,” say the band. “It’s about the harsh reality our generation is facing and the only good use of new technology, which is the ability to spread the word and call for action. The title of the album has another message, as it also reminds us the first world issues we’ve come so keen to complain about. We can only hope for a more responsible human legacy”.
