Following the release of her latest album “Like It On Top”, guitarist and singer songwriter Ana Popovic announces her nationwide May 2019 UK Tour. The tour includes dates in Cardiff (May 3), Glasgow (May 8) and London (May 11). Special guest on the tour will be Ben Poole (*on all dates except Chester), who recently released his studio album Anytime You Need Me. Tickets are available via www.thegigcartel.com or the 24-hour box office 0844 478 0898.

“Like It On Top”, released on September 14, 2018, focuses on empowered, successful, inspiring female role models. Recorded in Nashville and produced by four-time Grammy winner Keb’ Mo’, the blues influenced album features guest appearances from Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robben Ford and Keb’ Mo’.

Says Popovic, “I hope that my music inspires others to motivate ladies all over the world to be successful, energetic, empowered women on a mission, and to motivate men to give them that chance.”

A trending theme in today’s world is women overcoming obstacles and breaking through the glass ceilings to reach the top. “Like It On Top” celebrates those that take initiative, develop, inspire and motivate. But it also credits the men who are motivated and enlightened enough to support women in their quest to be their best versions of themselves.

Popovic continues: “The majority of women need to work harder than men to prove themselves or need to cope with a feeling of constant pressure to never make a mistake and be perfect. I believe that women no longer only have the right to earn a living and to take care of themselves and their families. The time has come to step it up. Becoming the outstanding leaders of tomorrow. Corner-office ladies in business, politics, and the electric guitar!”

ANA POPOVIC – BIOGRAPHY

Ana has been moving west all her life. She fell in love with American blues as a kid, starting back home in Belgrade, Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia), then moved to the Netherlands to study at the conservatory of jazz and world-music. She lived in Amsterdam for over ten years, and then in a single-minded pursuit of her art and career, she relocated to Memphis, TN to record and work with Southern musicians. Finally, two years ago, she moved her family to Los Angeles, California where she now lives.

Called “one helluva guitar-player” by Bruce Springsteen and nominated for six Blues Music Awards, Ana has appeared on the covers of Vintage Guitar and Guitar Player magazine. Her albums ‘Can You Stand The Heat’ and ‘Unconditional’ were USA Today Picks-Of-The-Week and featured on NPR Weekend Edition, who praised her “Fiery technique on the Stratocaster”. Nearly all of Ana’s albums reached the top of the Billboard Blues Charts. She and her six-piece band have toured tirelessly, sharing stages with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and many others.

BEN POOLE – BIOGRAPHY

‘Time Has Come’ was not only the title of Ben Poole’s last studio album – but also the consensus of the press, punters and star players who have caught this British gunslinger on his rise from hot-tip to headline act. Now with brand new and highly anticipated album ‘Anytime You Need Me’ on the horizon and an extensive European Tour to support it, it appears things are only going from strength to strength with this now well-established Blues, Rock & Soul guitarist, singer and songwriter.

Ben has moved fast since he burst out of the Brighton Institute of Modern Music onto the post-millennial scene. We’ve had the breakthrough debut album (2012’s ‘Let’s Go Upstairs’). We’ve had the rocket-fuelled live release (2014’s ‘Live at The Royal Albert Hall’). ‘Time Has Come’ fused both sides of Ben’s musical personality, capturing the gritty velocity of his shows in a studio context. “We really wanted to get a balance between a live sounding album and a well-produced, polished-sounding one,” he explains. “There’s a rawness and edginess, but also a subtlety and intimacy. I think we captured what I’m all about with that album, but with the new album the small but amazing team around me pushed me even further as an artist, and as a result we’ve created something way beyond what I could have ever imagined I was capable of.

“Truly astonishing” – Classic Rock Magazine
“A really good player” – Gary Moore
“Killer!” – Kenny Wayne Shepherd
“Exudes class & prowess” – Guitar Techniques Magazine “Definitely one to watch” – Guitarist Magazine

“F***ing amazing!” – Jeff Beck
“So amazing!” – Beth Hart
“Unbelievable.” – Richie Kotzen
“Ben Poole is the full package” – Maverick Magazine “A fresh sound and style” – Paul Jones (BBC Radio 2)

“This is a young man to look out for as he is no doubt a rising talent” – Blues Matters Magazine

When you hear comments such as the above from some of the greatest guitar players ever, some of the most respected blues/rock/soul artists in the world today, and some of the leading magazines and radio presenters in Europe, you just know that they have heard something very special. Ben Poole is currently being described as one the most exciting young Rock, Blues and Soul artists to come out of the UK for a long, long time.
