HOUSTON INDIE POP BAND POLAROID SUMMER TACKLE SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN NEW SINGLE “TIDES”

The band wanted to further the conversation about substance abuse — something that affects people of all ages, races, economic backgrounds — especially as it becomes one of the biggest problems our nation faces today.

“TIDES is a song that represents the struggles of addiction, depression, anxiety and other trials that drastically affect our young community today more then ever. Although the track portrays struggles, it’s also a song about healing and how important it is to make a change for yourself. The chorus line ‘Tides turning for the inside’ portrays just that. Our hope is that this song will help others through their internal struggles making them aware that they not alone and to encourage them to open up and talk to someone.”

Polaroid Summer is the combined talents of two well known Houston bands, Lost Element and VerseCity. Polaroid summer is comprised of lead vocalist Micaiah Walker (formerly of VerseCity) and former Lost Element members drummer Brian Barrett, guitarist Trace Sisson, and bassist Kenneth Conlon. After years of touring, writing, and tirelessly supporting their previous projects, both bands decided it was time to for a fresh start. Polaroid Summer wasted no time jumping into the scene playing more than 80 shows in 2017, including festivals, college shows, sold out headlining shows in their hometown, along with an appearance at the 2017 MUSEXPO in LA. The band made headway with their first single “The Giant” mixed by 17 time Grammy award winner Serban Ghenea. Polaroid Summer was named on of the “HOT 100 acts of 2017” by Music Connection Magazine. They guys also spent much of 2017 working on their debut EP at Mix star studios in Virginia Beach, VA with Producer Bryce Bordone, the nephew of Serban Ghenea.

Polaroid Summer’s debut EP is due for release in the summer of 2018. Their new EP offers new age alt pop sound that gives them cross genre appeal. Channeling both electronic and organic elements combine with big propulsive beats, catchy guitar licks in resemblance to the 1975, and hook driven lead vocals gives them a lavishly layered sound appealing to mass audiences. Delivering hook after hook, the band hopes to release multiple singles from this EP starting with their newest single, “Tides”, which premiered in January. In current news, the band has teamed up with Sat Bisla from A & R Worldwide to co manage Polaroid Summer in order to help the band catch some buzz before performing at 2018’s MUSEXPO in Hollywood this May.
