So for anyone unfamiliar with yourself, tell us a little bit about your backstory and how you ended up here.

Flush is a four-piece, organic rock band from Helsinki, Finland. We play a mix of punk rock, alternative rock, and various other variations of rock. Our debut album, ‘It Began as a Mistake’, was just released a couple weeks ago (23rd October) and is a collection of songs from our journey over the last years. The core of the band has been together for a longer time, but the current line-up was established in 2018 and that is when things really took off. We have been compared to everything from Bad Religion and Hüsker Dü to Placebo and Biffy Clyro, and everything in between and around. On the surface we might look melancholic, sad and bitter, but in reality, we do not take ourselves too seriously. Life can feel very long if you cannot laugh about the surrealness of it all.

Tell us about what you are currently up to?

As the album was just released, we are promoting it the best we can without being able to do live shows as one normally would. We have one show coming up in our hometown Helsinki this weekend (November 14th) and another one later in November (28th) but with a dead live scene that is pretty much all we can do right now. We are working on new material already and hopefully we can release some music video art sometime soon too.

You can find streaming and purchasing links to the album on our website https://flush.rocks. We are also active on https://facebook.com/flushmusic. The album was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa, one of Finland’s leading rock and metal producers, and the guy behind the sounds of bands like HIM, Amorphis and 69 Eyes.

What is next for you?

We continue album PR, writing new songs, and doing the few scheduled shows, after which we will have to see what the new year brings. We are hopeful that next summer there will be festivals again and we can go play some new places. Doing some recording in the meantime is definitely an option.

Who are your influences & inspiration?

Here are our picks, one from each member:

Lasse (vocals, guitars, song-writing): Pavement – Cut Your Hair. Pavement gave me the courage to write, play and sing without really having the traditional skills for it.

Janne (guitars): Nirvana – Lithium. Trailblazers. You don’t need to know how to play well to be able to play well.

Börje (drums): Foo Fighters – All My Life. A perfect rock song with an in-your-face intro.

Eero (bass): Rancid – Maxwell Murder. This is why I chose the bass as my instrument.
