Already known for her towering voice and instantly relatable songs about relationships,
Cassa Jackson has truly stepped up a level as
2022 comes to an end. Her previous single
‘Right Girl, Wrong Guy’ took her to
Radio 1’s airwaves and resulted in a
New Noise feature from
Wonderland, while her current
UK arena tour as guest to
Blue has led to her being discovered by a whole new audience.
Having hit London’s O2 earlier this week with Blue, Cassa now shares the new track ‘Fame Looks Good On You’ as a reminder of her talents to the thousands of fans who have seen her perform at the first seven shows of the tour. Cassa wrote‘Fame Looks Good On You’ with its producer Kevin Malpass. LISTEN HERE
‘Fame Looks Good On You’ has been an explosive set opener throughout the tour. The opening keys and Cassa’s storytelling lyrics suggest it’s heading firmly into singer-songwriter territory but then it takes off with a mammoth, arena-sized hook and a quickfire rush of pop-punk melody.
While the lyric “Where’s the boy I knew?” harks back to a happier time together, Cassa now holds nothing back in her dislike of what he has become: “Just a typical Friday night chasing celebs at Annabel’s / Could you be any more of a stereotype? You’re a caricature of yourself.” Some people remain admirably unchanged by fame, but for others it changes them in completely unexpected ways.
Cassa says, “I wrote ‘Fame Looks Good On You’ to explore the way fame can change people. Fame can be addictive and can bring out the worst in people.”
As Cassa Jackson’s ascent gathers steam, she still remains the same person she was back when a career as a singer felt as realistic a prospect as going to the moon. But with big dreams and the help of an influential mentor, Cassa suddenly found herself performing in the final of a songwriting competition. Voice In A Million creative director Jo Garofalo was present that day and was sufficiently impressed to invite Cassa to perform as a guest solo artist at their next charity event at Wembley Arena. When your first gig is in a final and your second is at Wembley, maybe the moon isn’t so far away.
A trilingual artist who also writes, performs and has a first class honours degree in French (see ‘Chère Maman’) and Spanish, Cassa is a set apart from your average singer-songwriter. Her songs are full of big emotions of highs, heartbreaks and vulnerability, creating a modern take on pop using classic songwriting style that will appeal to fans of Miley Cyrus,Halsey, Dua Lipa and Tate McRae.
Her accomplishments are coming thick and fast, and also include shows with JLS and The Jacksons, a sold-out headliner at London’s Omeara, festivals including the Isle of Wight and Cambridge Club Festival, and other shows as far afield as Gran Canaria and South Africa. After also featuring as a special guest and on the soundtrack to the hit sci-fi series ‘Pandora’, Cassa has exceeded 12 million streams on spotify alone to date and is just getting started.
