Sterling Ball, John Ferraro and Jim Cox - 'The Mutual Admiration Society' - Album Review
8.5Overall Score
Reader Rating: (0 Votes)

The Mutual Admiration Society reads like a who’s who of the guitar world. The record features an array of incredible guests: Steve Lukather (Toto), Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, Kansas), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Albert Lee, Jay Graydon and Steve Vai.

So what do you get from The Mutual Appreciation Society for your hard earned money? A quirky collection of songs from the youth of Ball, Ferraro and Cox. A passion-project for sure, but reborn through the magic of a collection of some of the finest guitar players around today. The playing of course is simply sublime, and provides a musical education like no other. If you’re an aspiring guitarist or a seasoned pro, there’s something for everyone here, it’s also interesting seeing artists like Vai and Petrucci outside of their comfort zones yet still making a song their own.

The Mutual Admiration Society is released January 19th via Favored Nations Records.
