Mr Big return with Live From Milan, a follow up to their highly regarded Defying Gravity album released just last year via Frontiers. Much of Mr Big’s reputation has been forged through their live shows, stunning technical ability from the infamous duo of Paul Gilbert on guitar and Billy Sheehan on bass have been dazzling audiences worldwide since they launched onto the scene back in the late 80’s.

Live From Milan is no exception, kicking off with their head turning number ‘Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy’ (The Drill Song) it sets the bar high with it’s blistering solo from Gilbert and it’s outrageous drill combo from the not so toxic twins. The album itself is twenty plus tracks long and available in 2CD, Blue-ray and 2LP. The Blue-ray will no doubt be a fan favourite with the ability to watch the chaos ensue in front of your eyes. The album covers the guys repertoire from the early days right up to their latest offering from last year, so you get the best of Mr Big right across the board.

Like a fine wine these guys and their songwriting have aged well, and their new songs stand up right beside the old classics with ease, tracks like ‘1992’, ‘Undertow’ and ‘Defying Gravity’ are there to Rock your world alongside fan favourites like ‘Alive And Kicking’ and ‘Addicted To That Rush’ and ‘Green Tinted Sixties Mind’ to name but a few. Throw in a bass solo from Sheehan and a guitar solo from the majestic Paul Gilbert and your sold. Mesh that with the sublime vocals of Eric Martin and you have a live performance to melt you face!

This recording was also one of the last to feature the late great Pat Torpey on select tracks, and no better fitting tribute there is than a live recording with his band of brothers to pay respect to the man himself. A mesmerising performance by all involved.

Live From Milan is out now via Frontiers Music.
