This Metal Opera trilogy continues where Part 1, finished and to catch you up, The Dark Lord had defeated Valley Doom and King Thorgan has fallen. It is now up to the Warrior King to lead the people of Valley Doom to safety as they head to their allies in The Kingdom of Eunomia, where the Warrior King along with his trusted allies must form a plan to conquer the Dark Lord. Such an intricate and well thought story deserves music to match, which Marius Danielson has certainly managed to create. As the album begins the scene is set by the voice of the narrator and we have a moment to remember the fallen King whilst a ceremonial anthem is sung before the Power Metal really kick in with ‘Rise of the Dark Empire’. The dramatic and elaborate music really punches its way through the speakers with the strong guitars high paced and punchy drums and a vocal that sings to us to continue this epic fantasy story. This is the way of the album as we weave between narration and incredible Power Metal, the likes of which often tried however is rarely achieved. This combination is extremely effective in scene setting and progressing the fantasy story. Even the songs that are around the darker aspects of the story sound fantastic are very quickly sung along with. The solos are as impressive as the story and the use of additional instruments, such as the flute, as a different dynamic aid in being drawn into this story. The detail used in the tracks are novel worthy and the music is glorious, as any Power Metal should be. This is a musical wonder that draws you into the story and gets the emotions working as the story continues, truly deserving the title of Epic Metal Opera. If you have not heard Part 1, you will rush to hear it and then it will leave you wanting to hear the final part of the trilogy. Ed Ford Legend of Valley Doom : Part 2 is released November 30th 2018 via Crime Records.
