The follow-up to 2016’s ‘The Art Of Loss‘, which van Dyk counts amongst REDEMPTION‘s very best, ‘Long Night’s Journey Into Day‘ is inarguably the sound of a band at the height of their powers. As followers of REDEMPTION are also aware, it is the first full-length since the departure of vocalist Ray Alder, and features the debut of Evergrey vocalist Tom Englund. “We were unable to tour ‘The Art Of Loss’ because Ray was not able to actively participate in Redemption any longer, so we decided it was time to part company shortly after its release. Ray is a dear friend, and I have nothing but respect and love for him and what we created together. But at some point, it just became untenable.” Of course, Alder’s shoes were not exactly going to be easy to fill, and it was essential that his successor be someone who would immediately command respect, as well as somebody who could exceed expectations when it came to performance. Moreover, it was integral that they had someone who could fully invest in the lyrical themes concerning the human condition, which have always been central to REDEMPTION. So, the fact that from the beginning of his career Englund has penned lyrics about feelings of doubt, fear and despair with an unshakable emotional authenticity made him the perfect choice. “Because of the power of his voice and the emotion he brings, this isn’t going to be a shocking transition for fans. Tom’s also a very versatile vocalist, and being a songwriter, he has a tremendous melodic and compositional sensibility, and on top of that, we’ve known each other for many years, and there is a level of not just professional respect but personal friendship to it all.”
Guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth, OHM) and Simone Mularoni (DGM) return as guest musicians. When it came to backing up the music with visuals, the band once again turned to a longtime collaborator, Travis Smith, whose humbling resumé includes records by bands such as Art Of Defiance, Opeth and Iced Earth.

LIK enters official German album charts with their new album ‘Carnage’!
To everyone´s surprise, Stockholm Death Metallers LIK have just entered the official German album charts on position 78! Congrats on that!
Comments LIK: “We all felt very humbled and happy when this news reached us. But most important is that this means one thing, death metal á la old school is still going strong!”
Surf over to metalblade.com/lik to check out the videos for the two singles ‘Dr Duschanka’ and ‘Celebration Of The Twisted’. At the same location you can order the album on vinyl as well as on Digi-CD.
In the dirt where fallen idols lay to rest, the maggots and seeds in 2014 spawned a new creation. This took the ugly form of LIK, which fittingly means corpse in Swedish. An un-dead creation which offers a plate of savory old school death metal. Walking the earth for three cold winters, and with the first offer named ‘Mass Funeral Evocation’ in 2015, it’ll have a sister released in May of 2018. Through iconic Metal Blade Records, ‘Carnage’ will reach even further in the quest to spread the beauty of imperfection.
Responsible to capture this on tape was once again Lawrence Mackrory (Darkane, F.K.Ü). This time things where stepped up a notch as the recording took place in the famous Dugout studios in Uppsala where Daniel Bergstrand also added some spice to the infernal stew. In the land where the craft is polished to resemble something else than brute reality, LIK has no passage as this entity is devoted to make a permanent mark in those who lay down their souls to rock’n’roll. That’s why the recipe will always, and has always been, to record as much live as possible. Keeping editing to a minimum offers a “what your hear is what you get” experience. That’s why it feels like you’re on the spot at a live gig, rather than a calm studio environment when you spin the disc.
The new offering from the Stockholm group delivers more of what you got on the debut. It’s an effort where you can expect everything from slow and bone crushing songs to fast and furious riffs. The lyrics are once again about everything between heaven and hell, both in reality and in fiction. It portrays the deepest corners of humanity and it also flirts with old school horror.
1. To kill
2. Rid you of your flesh
3. Celebration of the twisted
4. Dr Duschanka
5. Left to die
6. Cannibalistic infancy
7. Death cult
8. The deranged
9. Only death is left alive
10. Embrace the end
Chris Barkensjö – drums & vocals
Tomas Åkvik – vocals & guitars
Niklas “Nille” Sandin – guitars & bass

Monte Pittman releases new video playlist for each track on ‘Inverted Grasp Of Balance’; announces Los Angeles and New York dates
There are great guitarists, great vocalists and great songwriters, but Monte Pittman is one of the elite few who can truly lay claim to all three titles. With his fourth full-length, Inverted Grasp of Balance (2016), he once again raised the stakes, delivering a riveting collection of full force metal that showcases his continuing evolution. Now, fans can watch a video playlist for each track on the album here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy8LfIp6j3aKrlpY2mAJQnX3gu4waLTwl
Monte Pittman comments: “We are finally releasing the remainder of videos filmed for ‘Inverted Grasp Of Balance’. It started out as an idea Travis Colbert had about filming me as a project when he was with me playing my solo shows. Travis has been documenting content for the app, Bravo Tip Or Pay, that I use to sell tickets and merchandise at my shows. Don Jamieson had an idea for ‘Skeleton Key’, I had to climb up on a mountain of rocks luckily not getting eaten by a bunch of rattlesnakes for ‘Arisen In Broad Daylight’, and we filmed ‘Panic Attack’ in the certified haunted Logan Mansion. Along with the videos that have already been released (featuring Leanna Decker, Billy Sheehan, & Richard Christy), you can now watch the entire album. This completes the cycle for ‘Inverted Grasp Of Balance'”.
To finish off the Inverted Grasp Of Balance album cycle, Monte Pittman will also play shows in Los Angeles and New York next month, performing The Power Of Three (2014) and Inverted Grasp Of Balance in their entirety. See below for more details.

Harm’s Way will be touring in support of their new album, Posthuman. Having grown with each subsequent release, Posthuman is a devastating addition to the band’s catalog. “We’ve always stayed true to who we are and allowed the songwriting process to take shape organically from record to record, and as the band has progressed, our sound has become more refined with metal and industrial influences,” states drummer Chris Mills, while guitarist Bo Lueders succinctly sums up what people can expect when they first spin the record: “To aHarm’s Way fan, I would describe ‘Posthuman‘ as a blend of ‘Isolation‘(2011) and ‘Rust‘ (2015), but it’s sonically way more insane. To anyone else, I would simply say it’s full on heavy and full on aggression.”
