The Spirit formed in 2015, some considerable years after Black Metal began to take over the Extreme Metal world however the Scandinavians have clearly been inspired by those from their homeland as they bring us their take on Melodic Black Metal.
The guitars are pitched higher, the drums are tin sounding and the vocal is very much one that would suit any Black Metal band. The tempo is quicker than a lot of Black Metal and the guitars lead us on their own journey as they embark on the many solos and instrumentals that are within the tracks or are in fact the tracks themselves. The riffs run the tracks and create the foundation that the tracks are built upon whilst the other instruments an the vocal tangle and sprout off.
The melodies within the release are those of a band with years of experience behind them but the sound has a freshness that makes the 7 tracks very listenable and enjoyable.
The band are shrouded in secrecy and mystery, not revealing the band members names, instead using their initials and their music captivates and enchants with the atmospheric melodic death metal.
Nuclear Blast have played a magical card by re-releasing this record as anyone who listening will feel the power of The Spirit for longer than the 38 minutes of the album.
