Layover have released a brand new EP this month with Your Laughter Never Leaves. It is five tracks of pure Pop Punk anthems that are full of those fast riffs we love from this genre. This EP comes after the band took some time out back in 2016, and three years later they are back with a bang.
Heading straight in with ‘Hunger Pains’, you instantly fall in love with these guys. The high-energy sound they provide with their upbeat drums and fast riffs is everything a Pop Punk band needs. The slower bridge is once again reminiscent of the genre, but also adds an Emo twist to their sound. The almost shouting vocals add to that energy, as the higher notes lead into an almost scream but allows you to hear the passion behind the band. The band also cleverly heads straight into the third track in such a way that you might miss where ‘Coffee and Fluxetine’ ends and the minute and a half ‘Hollow Me Out’ begins. They also show some diversity with ‘Slumber’, as it takes on a slower beat and allows you to really hear the meaning behind the lyrics. However, the track still kicks in with some grit as the chorus hits. The lead track showcases each style of the band’s musical style and has some real depth to it.
The EP as a whole is just what you’re looking for in this type of band and is one great track after another. Layover have a sound that you can’t help but get addicted to.
