Barb Wire Dolls – Rub My Mind – Album Review

Following up on a very successful 2016, Barb Wire Dolls are set to release their brand new album Rub My Mind on June 16th 2017, via Motörhead Music.

Hailing from the island of Crete, Barb Wire Dolls sold everything they owned and left Greece in 2010 for Los Angeles. The band’s electrifying rock did not go unnoticed by the incomparable, irreplaceable Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead. After seeing Barb Wire Dolls live, Lemmy took an immediate interest in the band and had them signed to the Motörhead Music record label.

Rub My Mind is a pure Punk Rock album full of the raw anguish that is the very essence of what we know to be Punk, recorded in the Joshua Tree desert at legendary studio Rancho De La Luna in California, where Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age made their seminal albums. Produced and mixed by Jay Baumgardner (Evanescene, John Fogerty, Bush), the album is a collection of 13 eclectic tracks that reflects on the state of our world, how to deal with it – and how to escape it! It is dedicated to legend Lemmy.

‘Back in the U.S.S.A.,’ the first single taken from the new album, is a fiery anthem that is as catchy as it is Punk. This track sets up the rest of the album, letting you know what these girls are all about. ‘Back in the U.S.S.A’ video has been premiered on May 11th on Kerrang! and can be watched here:

Another great anthem from the album is ‘We Are Champions,’ with a great catchy tune throughout. But if you’re looking for the political angst from this album, ‘Contract’ is the song for you. The Barb Wire Dolls also show us their slightly softer side with ‘If I Fall,’ which showcases Isis Queen’s stunning voice.

Lemmy certainly knew what he was talking about when he signed the Barb Wire Dolls (not that we would question the great rock god). This is a pure Punk album which holds the roots from the early days of Punk Rock with an updated sound.
