Back with a brand new album, Adrenaline Rush gives us Soul Survivor, three years after their self-titled debut album. With some line up changes, the band welcomes Joel Fox and Sam Soderlindh on lead guitar and bass, which follows the departure of Ludvig Turner and Soufian Ma’Aoui.

The band has brought out a new album full of old school ‘80s guitars and Tave Wanning’s exceptional voice, that brings a darker and heavier sound than their last album. Straight off the new album is their latest single ‘Love Like Poison.’ With its heavy drums and Wanning’s more aggressive sound, the track is pure gold. The exceptional guitar solo alone on this song shows off the band’s growth from the last album and what’s to come from them.

This time, the blond bombshell vocalist Tåve Wanning mainly collaborated with Fredrik Folkare (of Firespawn and Unleashed), who brought fresh influences to the table that fit well with Tåve’s ideas. The music has evolved and grown beyond what appeared on the debut. It is still melodic and definitely has an ‘80s flavour, but also is a bit more complex, darker, and heavier than the previous album. The production is edgier and the guitar work once again pristine. Erik Mårtensson (of Eclipse) was once again involved as a sounding board, co-writing a song and mastering the finished tracks.

“I didn’t want to make another album just like the first one,” Tåve says. “I’ve grown since we recorded the first. I am in a different place. And I feel the album reflects that. The new tracks really complement the old instead of replacing them; they add a new dimension and gives us a broader spectrum of songs to choose from when playing live.”

‘Soul Survivor,’ the title track, shows off the band’s darker and more sinister sound. Wanning’s voice is deeper and sets beautifully against the melody. The lyrics show how much the band has grown since their last album. Soderlindh’s solo keeps that darker edge to the track and is exceptional in its own right.

The entire album has you captivated through its classic riffs and bigger than life guitars. With tracks such as ‘Crash,’ ‘Stand My Ground’ and ‘Breaking The Chains,’ what’s not to love about this album! Every track has you wanting to sing along and jump right into the choruses with your fist pumping. Adrenaline Rush have created something that is outstanding to listen to and completely embodies that ‘80s rock sound.

They are currently touring through Sweden promoting the album, but here’s to hoping they cross the water to the UK later this year!
